When it comes to the Sailor Moon reboot, one of my favorite aspects is the music, and the latest edition, the two-part feature film COSMOS is no exception – and as a bonus, new versions of some of the series most popular themes from its original run in the 90s have been re-recorded. This includes the original theme song ムーンライト伝説(Moonlight Legend) performed by the actors who portray Eternal versions of the Sailor Scouts: Sailor Moon (Kotono Mitsuishi), Sailor Mercury (Hisako Kanemoto), Sailor Mars (Rina Satō), Sailor Jupiter (Ami Koshimizu) and Sailor Venus (Shizuka Itōndtracks).

As well as the Sailor Stars song, performed by the voice actors: Nana Mizuki (as Sailor Kakyuu), Marina Inoue (as Sailor Star Fighter), Saori Hayami (as Sailor Star Maker), and Ayane Sakura (as Sailor Star Healer). This song also includes lyrics written by Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi.

With 84 tracks spanning 2 discs with a total run time of 2 hours and 8 minutes, the score composed by Yasuharu Takanashi is epic and awe-inspiring. Like with his previous work on the three seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal and the previous two-part film ETERNAL, every queue calls to the magic and wonder of this series that’s just as popular now as it was thirty years ago.

Released on 20 December through King Records a special limited edition boxset not only includes both soundtrack albums on CD but also 2 Blu-rays (or DVD), that include both parts of the film as well as a plethora of bonus features including clean (credit-less) openings for both themes “Moonlight Legend” & “Sailor Star Song” as week as the music video for “Tsuki no Hana,” event footage, and other promotional videos. All discs and a special booklet are housed in a sturdy 12″x12″ boxset that is beautifully printed. The only drawback (for English-speaking fans) is that the set only includes Japanese subtitles. Still, it’s a must-have for any moonie.

The set can be ordered wherever Japanese film / music is sold, including CD JAPAN!
