It’s been a minute since I’ve had time to focus on some of the Thai BL content that has come out recently, but Two Worlds starring Max (Kornthas Rujeerattanavorapan) and Nat (Natasitt Uareksit) has been a series I have been waiting for.

Streaming to international viewers on iQIYI the series tells the story of Khram (Nat) who, after the tragic murder of his friend Phupha, falls into a mystical pool that transports him to another universe parallel to his own. There he meets Thai (Max) who, twelve years ago, was in love with his universe’s Khram – but he was murdered by Thai’s father. Of course, he’s shocked to see his lover resurrected, but that’s not the only strange thing. In Khram’s world Thai looks just like the man who not only murdered his beloved Phupha but Khram’s own mother. It’s a strange and tangled web of confusion and deceit. Phupha is portrayed by Gun (Thapanawat Kaewbumrung) and even in Khram’s universe seems kind of scuzzy.

While I very much enjoy watching Max and Nat play off one another, the writing of the series feels just a bit clunky to me. The development of Khram and Phupha’s relationship is forced and hastily written. Also, minus a scar on the side of his face, Thai is the spitting image of the man who MURDERED HIS MOTHER, so I am not sure I believe Khram would be falling all over himself to get him to like him. However, I do like him taking on a more comedic and self-sufficient role than the character of Khondiao from Cuttie Pie/Naught Babe.

However, with so much great content out there, I am not sure it’s not one I am sure I will continue to follow. However, I will say that a lot of the series, especially fantasy series that I feel like this toward end up being some of my favorite – Peach of Time and Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss are two that immediately spring to mind. Plus, it’s MaxNat… I’m sure I watch more.
