ONLY FRIENDS was one of the most interesting and surprising dramas to come out of GMMTV last year. Centered on sex, the story of the series was incredibly deep and very well-written, and it starred some of the biggest stars signed to the company: First, Khaotung, Force, Book, Neo, Mark, and a plethora of other talented actors. It is a series that has taken GMMTV, a company that has cornered the market on sweet BL dramas like My School PresidentBad Buddy2gether, and Fish Upon the Sky into a much steamier direction.

And they did so perfectly.

Earlier this week the boxset of the series was finally released. having pre-ordered it through eThaiCD, I’ve been waiting to see what the company has done – and I must say, it’s well worth it.

A sturdy white box comes concealed by a sleek red-light cover that keeps secrets from the naked eye. Once removed, those secrets, as is often the case – are revealed. It’s a simple, yet effective design aspect that fits with the theme of the series. BL Review: ONLY FRIENDS – Boxset

6 DVDs contain all 12 episodes with a bonus disc of music videos and behind-the-scenes content – all presented in standard definition with English subtitles. Physical extras include 1 photo book (100 pages), four 18 x 26.7 cm photo cards designed from the ONLY FRIENDS character posters of First and Khaotung, Force and Book, and (my favorite couple of the series) Neo and Mark. 12 4×6″ Postcards – that includes some great shots, including a very tasteful half-naked shot of Mark as Nick – the best character in the entire series – with the most growth. 3 Exclusive Photocards (5.5 x 8.5 cm), and a negative filmstrip.

As with every single product I have ever ordered that was manufactured by GMMTV the boxset for ONLY FRIENDS is impeccable. Sturdy and sleek, it’s incredibly well made and well worth every single penny. While the set has already sold-out on the official GMMTV Website it is still available on eThaiCD. So grab your copy soon – before it’s sold out – because these sets are all limited editions – there are no reprints.

More GMMTV series review soon so…
