No one was the line between cute and sexy quite like the 7 lucky boys of Naniwa Danshi. In the three years since their debut, I’ve watched this group go from cute, twinkling little sparkles, to supernova superstars and it’s been an absolute joy! 

In the Blu-ray release of their latest concert tour to promote their second album POPMALL, there’s no shortage of cuteness, but also moments that show the group is maturing and stepping into the status as full-blown smoke shows. 

The concert opened with several dancers, dressed as various items one might find in a mall, interacting on stage, while setting up boxes which the guys lift into from the floor. Personally, this is a welcomed change, as normally, I’ve seen them descend from the ceiling, and each time I do, my anxiety gets the better of me, and I can’t breathe until they’re safely on the ground. 

Opening with Poppin’ Hoppin’ Lovin’ there was something different about this tour’s version of 初心LOVE (UBU LOVE), and 青春ラプソディ (Seishun Rhapsody) is, as always, just pure sugar-infused fun.

Other highlights from the concert include “LAI-LA-LA” – again, the guys are getting older and they’re embracing what that means as performers, and men in general – cute is starting to shift into sexy – and it’s not a bad thing 

“Blue Story”

Like “Seishun Rhapsody” this energetic track was used as the commercial theme for  Fine Today’s Sea Breeze deodorant. 

Opting for the 3 disc limited edition version of the blu-ray, the set comes in a hardcased slip box with some totally radical 90s inspired artwork. In addition to the concert, presented in glorious 1080 HD the set als comes with a Tour Documentary, a Final Digest, and more!
