Though the second half of Belinda Carlisle’s solo music career may not include the type of chart-topping hits her first four albums, and her most recent EP has, it’s still filled with some incredible songs.

Released on 5 October 2023, through Edsel (also known as Demon Music group) Volume 2 contains Belinda’s last four studio albums: Real (1993), which includes the hits “Lay Down Your Arms” and (my all-time favorite track) “Big Scary Animal”. A Woman And A Man (1996), which includes the hits “California” Featuring Beach Boy Brian Wilson, “Love in the Key of C”, “Always Breaking My Heart”, and a cover of Jenny Morris’ “In Too Deep”, Voila (2007), her album French standards, and Wilder Shores (2017) which consists mainly of series of Sikh chants set to modern pop music.

Like Volume 1, Volume 2 is housed in a study, and beautifully printed, media book, the set comes with a 36-page booklet that includes lyrics, credits, photos, and annotations for each album (Wilder Shores is done by Belinda herself). Everything about the set is beautiful, I love the ombre coloring of the disc and images, they’re gorgeous. The one exception is typeface of the booklet. The justify formatting leaves for extra spacing which makes an otherwise gorgeous set look unprofessional, and a cash grab after the success of the Decades Tour from 2022-2023. Belinda is an icon, a little bit more focus and care, would have made this worth the fact that, like the volume 1, only features only the previously released/standard versions of each of the albums. There are no extras or added mixes to warrant collecting the set unless you’re a die-hard fan. Which I am.
