More than a simple television series, the Saturday morning BL dramedy, My Love Mix-Up (消えた初恋) was an experience that changed the course of my life. Thanks to series stars Ren Meguro (目黒蓮) and Shunsuke Michieda (道枝駿佑) I was introduced to the wonderful world of Johnny & Associates (now STARTO Entertainment) who sent me off on a journey of incredible artist, amazing music, and great television / film. It’s also one of the reasons this blog was created.

Originally airing on TV Asahi from Oct 9, 2021 – Dec 18, 2021, the series centers around Aoki (Michieda) who by a complete accident falls in love with Ida (Meguro). It’s innocent and sweet, and one of the most wholesome Boys Love dramas I have ever seen. So, when I discovered the Blu-ray of the series, I knew I had to own it for myself.

The four discs include all 10 episodes of the series as well as a plethora of special features including: “Kieta Hatsukoi Gakkyu Nisshi” digest, a making-of documentary with unreleased footage, the extended/uncut version of Aoki and Ida’s date scene in Yokohama, another “making-of” for the last episode, press conference footage, talk session and more! Totaling around 355 minutes, the entire presented in glorious HD with an Aspect Ratio of 16:9 and Japanese Linear PCM 2ch Stereo. The outer box is sturdy and well-made with a hi-res print of the series poster including all four main cast members. Extras include a notebook, and a pamphlet with disc information and behind the scenes photos.
