When it comes to BL Couples, Pruk Panich (Zee) and Chawarin Perdpiriyawong (NuNew) are at the top of the industry cute list. Their ship first set sail in the hit 2022 romantic comedy drama Cute Pie: The Series from DoMunDi TV as well as its sequel series Cutie Pie 2 You and the spin-off series Naughty Babe. They’ve also done appearances and concerts all over the world, and have incredible star power. However, their latest feature film After Sundown, now streaming on Netflix, is a sinking ship not even the strength of cuteness of ZeeNuNew can save. 

Set in 1961, this supernatural horror(ish) film finds Saengrawi Raemsawang (NuNew) leaving his home with his uncle, a monk (Jirawat Vachirasarunpatra), to live at Sitthikornkan Castle in Phra Nakhon, with his uncle’s friend Pharit (Surasak Chaiat). The heir to the castle, Phraphloeng (Zee), has been living abroad but has returned home to visit his family. 

A sheer advised that, as he is about to turn twenty-five, a prophecy requires him to soon find his soulmate to secure his safety – or something terrible will happen to them. The rules state that they may not be a woman, nor born in Phra Nakhon. Saengrawi is neither thus it’s decided that he is the soulmate even though the two hate each other when they first meet. 

Throughout his stay with Phloeng’s family, Rawi is plagued by nightmares and haunted by the spirit of an angry woman (Anyarin Terathananpat) who ends up being Kannika, the former wife of Pharit, who died while trying to kill Pharit’s true love, the monk.

The film also stars Krittanai Asanprakit (Nammon) as the handsome (and incredibly jacked) chauffeur Kraiphop who has a crush on a house servant, Phutson (Napatsakorn Pingmuang) who, like ZeeNuNew are wonderful actors, and a joy to watch on screen, but they get stuck within the super thick plot holes of an incredible thin story.

The music though, including the OST song แสงรวี (Destiny) by ZeeNuNew.

While not a fan of the film, I am a fan of Nammon and ZeeNuNew, and again want to clarify that they, as actors did a great job.
