Day Reveals the truth behind the loss of his sight. It was an accident caused when he picked up Night from a night of drinking and then tried to keep him from throwing up in his car. He knows it was an accident, but he despises it when Night “pretends” to be a good son in front of their mother. It’s later revealed that he grew up in the village, he and Mhork have returned to for On and Pla’s wedding. He and Night left with their mother when he was a toddler after she discovered her husband was in love with another woman.

After talking more with his father, On and Play tells Day that the cover of the Last Twilight book was shot close by. While initially, Day says he wants to “hurry home” something happens with his sight that makes him ask Mhork to take him the next day.

After physically experiencing several moments in the book, the two get lost on their way to the mountain. Rather than risk the mountain dangers in the dark, the two check into a local boarding house to sleep. Sleeping, however, is not exactly what the two end up doing. Yes, Day and Mhork get intimate.

The next day, even though Night orders Mhork to come home, the two travel up the mountain. As the sky is painted with the colors of the setting sun, Day truly witnesses his last twilight.

Quick Take:  The further into this series I get into this series the more worried, I am that Night is going to die. I don’t think the father was necessary, at least not at this point – but I am not surprised that it happened, I kind of figured he’d make at least an appearance. It’s a brilliant series through. I love it.
