When it comes to BL Series, La Pluie is one that broke my heart. The series started so strong with a great story, wonderful actors, and one of the catchiest soundtracks I’ve ever heard. But throughout the course of 12 episodes, it got itself stuck in the trenches of the BL Tropes, and it never really pulled itself back out.
However, the one aspect of the series that did remain strong, right up until the end was the Original Soundtrack. The series’ opening theme Is This Real Love? (หลับไม่ไหว) was not only performed by Boy Sompob(King of the BL soundtrack, who also wrote the song) but it was also recorded by the series’ side couple Copter Nuntapong and Suar Kritsanaphong. It’s a fun, disco-infused pop track that is the best of everything Sompob has ever written.
You Are My Destiny (ฟังใจ) also written and recorded by Sompob, the series / OST also features a version released from actor Pee Peerawich, who was one of the series main couples.
The album also comes with instrumental tracks of both Is This Real Love? and You Are My Destiny as well as a boss recording of You Are My Destiny performed by both Sompob, Peerawich and BeanieBoy.
Even though it’s not as many different songs as lets say Until We Meet Again (which Sompob was also a part of), it’s still a pretty solid OST and honestly, much easier to get through than the series itself.
While you can stream the OST songs on Apple Music / Spotify, as an artist, I want to support other artist, and since I know first hand how streaming doesn’t offer much in the way of compensation, I like to purchase the tracks. You can buy on iTunes, but as an audio-file, It hurts my heart how much the sound is truncated. Luckily, I discovered Qobuz – which has allowed me to legally purchase this and other digital pieces of music in a lossless format.
More Music reviews soon so…
