Thanks to eThaiCD I have amassed an incredibly impressive collection of BL boxsets. While most of them are from series produced by GMMTV, I’ve started to branch out and thankfully eThai is always there with recommendations. The Thai office romantic drama Step by Step was one of them. 

Adapted from the novel of the same name by by summer December, Step by Step was produced by Dee Hup House (Lovely Writer) the series aired on GMM One (in Thailand) and WeTV (for international viewers) 18 Apr 2023 – 5 Jul 2023. The series starred Man Trisanu Soranun and Ben Bunyapol Likhitamnuayporn.

Jeng (Man) is the son of the owner of the company he works for. Despised by his subordinates, he has a no-nonsense policy when it comes to work. Returning to Thailand after studying in Los Angeles, Pat (Ben) is bright-eyed and idealistic. Though Jeng is attracted to him immediately, he is extra hard on his new employee. Upset, Pat puts in his resignation. The act initiates reform, not only within the company but within Jeng himself. 

As far as office romances go, I’ve seen better, but it is fun, even Though the series did spark controversy in May when a scene featuring popular actors Zee and NuNew from Cutie Pie The Series seemed to diss them and their relationship saying it was purely for marketing. 

The Box set, released earlier this month includes the entire series on a flash drive (with English subtitles), a mini poster, 2 sticker cards, a lanyard, photo cards, and a paper frame. Like the Lovely Writer set before it, everything in the box set is well made. Retailing for $145 it’s not exactly cheap and while worth it for a fan of the series, I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise. There are also some pretty sweet goods released in conjunction with the series, all of which can be purchased through eThai CD. I cannot recommend them enough. Not only is shipping usually free, but their staff is second to none. It’s an amazing company.
