2023 was a banner year for GMMTV. As the biggest entertainment conglomerate in Thailand, they’ve had a string of hit series and are the reigning monarchs of the BL Genre. Earlier this year the company released the second season of their anthology series Our Skyy which takes some of their most beloved BL characters and shows how their lives turned out after their series came to an end.

The twelve-episode series followed six couples. Pond and Phuwin from the mafia drama Never Let Me Go, Joong Dunk from the college comedy Star in My Mind, First and Khaotung from the dark drama The Eclipse, Jimmy and Sea from the supernatural Vice Versa, Gemini and Fourth from the adorable High school dramedy My School President, Force and Book from the office comedy A Boss and a Babe, and concluded with the four-part series reuniting two of the company’s most iconic ships, Ohm and Nanon from Bad Buddy with Earth and Mix from the A Tale of Thousand Stars

Loaded with exclusive extras, the boxset is one of the best I’ve seen from GMMTV. In addition to the 7-disc set which includes all 12 episodes as well as a bonus disc filled with behind-the-scenes and music video content, there are postcards, photo cards, a phonebook, and even photo strip type pallet cards.

When it comes to the actual episodes, the series opened strong with Never Let Me Go. Adding a supernatural element to the story Palm and Diao are not only transported back in time, but into different bodies, with their roles in life being completely reversed. Palm finds himself the wealthy young master, while Diao is an indentured servant. Though I liked the series when it aired, there was something incredibly engaging about this episode. It was very well done and convinced me to order the parent series.

Based on a story written by JittiRain, Vice Versa was one of my most favorite series of 2022. I am still salty over the fact that it never got its own box set, though I am thrilled to know it will soon be on Rakuten Viki! I loved seeing Puen and Talay as parents and Jigsaw (Pachchun Hiranprateep, Chun) is just about the most adorable kid ever! It was a great episode.

The Bad Buddy Series crossover with A Tale of Thousand Stars was genius. I loved getting a peek back into the world of Phua and Tian and there was something relatable about the fact that their fairytale wasn’t as “happily ever after” as everyone hoped it would be. One of my most favorite moments in the series was when Phuan and Pat woke up in bed together. Shirtless, after getting drunk the night before, there was a brief moment when the two worried they may have slept together. Of course, they didn’t, but it was funny.

In addition to the boxset, I also purchased the Nong Nao Sleep Mask from Bad Buddy episodes and it is one of the most comfortable masks I have ever worn.I also love that you can change the look based on your mood. It’s so cute.

A nice addition to my ever expanding collection of GMMTV boxsets, I purchased my copy from eThaiCD. They’re fast, affordable, and I’ve never seen another company with such brilliant customer service. I order all of my Thai merch through them, including some of the upcoming sets from GMMTV like Only Friends and Be My Favorite. Which means there will be more boxset reviews soon so…
