There is something incredibly special about the GMMTV series A Tale of Thousand Stars. Well written, beautifully acted, and spectacularly shot, every piece of this series fits together in a way that has made it one of my favorite series of all time. It was also the very first boxset I bought from GMMTV and it introduced me to the one and only Pirapat Watthanasetsir (Earth).

The incredibly cast of A Tale of Thousand Stars

Sahaphap Wongratch (Mix) stars as Tian Sopasitsakun, a wealthy playboy who has lived every moment as if it were his last because quite honestly, it any moment could have been. Tian was born with a heart condition. After a night of partying and gambling with his friends, he collapses. Rushed to the hospital he undergoes an emergency heart transplant.

The act saved his life but left him with a lot of questions, including who the mysterious donor was.

The owner, Tofun, played by Sarunchana Apisamaimongkol (Aye), was a volunteer teacher at a remote mountain village. A hotspot for gangsters and smugglers, the village is protected by a group of rangers led by Chief Phua (Watthanasetsir). On her way home from the village, Torfun is killed by a speeding car.

Poor Torfun

After discovering her identity, Tian decides to find out more about the owner of his heart. After discovering her journal (which he got from her aunt), Tian learns about the village, Phua, and the children Torfun loved. So, he decides to leave his posh playboy life behind and travel to the mountains as a way to pay homage to her.

However, when Tian arrives in the village, he and Phua don’t exactly hit it off. First, the teacher, who has decided not to tell anyone he’s had a heart transplant, faints and falls into the arms of the stern, yet incredibly handsome chief’s arms. Later, the teacher accidentally sets his house on file. Once again, the chief rescues him. However, he makes it known that he has no faith that Tian is cut out for this job. He doesn’t think he’s going to make it.

Tian (Mix) is safe in the arms of Phua (Earth)

Quick Take: The breathtaking location and the score alone are enough of a reason to watch this series, let alone the wonderful actors and top-notch storytelling.

10/10

Based on the net novel by Bacteria, the series was directed by Noppharnach Chaiwimol (Aof) and can currently be streamed though Rakuten Viki.
