Based on the manga of the same name by Inagaki Riichiro, Trillion Game is the story of two best friends. The charismatic Haru Tennoji (Snow Man’s Ren Meguro)and the shy genius Gaku Taira (M!LK’s Hayato Sano) as they attempt to make a trillion dollars.

Tennoji is charismatic and handsome. His mind is always ten steps ahead, and his silver tongue could talk the hind legs off a mule. Taira, however, is the exact opposite. Painfully shy, his brilliant mind gets lost in his nerves.

The series starts with the two having very different interviews at Dragon Bank, the largest IT company in Japan. Tennoji passes the interview with ease, but due to his shy nature, Taira is passed on. When Tennoji arrives on orientation day and doesn’t see his childhood friend, he quits on the spot. If they cannot see his genius, they’re not worth his time. Instead, he tells his friend that they should take hold of their own destinies and form their own company: Trillion Game.

But it’s not an easy road and the two are turned down by every investor they speak with Kirika Kokuryu (Mio Imada) the daughter of Dragon Bank’s owner, who offers them 100 Million yen ($666,889.00) in exchange for 51% ownership of the company. Instead of taking the offer, the two use it as bait to attract other investors like Kazuki Kedoin (Koji Kikkawa) who is impressed by their moxy.

After hiring Rinrin Takahashi (Riko Fukumoto) as their president, Trillion Game grows in capital and popularity. This attracts the attention of Dragon Bank and its owner Kazuma Kokuryu (Jin Kunimura) who doesn’t like competition. With the pieces in place, the game begins.

Fun, fresh, and incredibly entertaining Trillion Game is a series not to be missed. Also, the OST featuring Snow Man’s “Dangerholic” is brilliantly crafted. Originally airing on TBS in Jan from Jul 14, 2023 – Sep 15, 2023, you can now stream Trillion Game in its entirety on Netflix.

10/10.
