Right now Ren Megro is hot, and I don’t just mean his looks! Not only is he a member of Japan’s hottest group, Snow Man, as an actor, he’s had three incredibly popular series back to back and his newest series Trillion Game (トリリオンゲーム) will soon have global distribution on Netflix.

Based on the manga of the same name, Meguro plays the silver-tongued Haru Tennoji, a man with one goal: to make a trillion dollars and enjoy the very best that life has to offer. Co-staring Hayato Sano as Gaku, Tennoji’s best friend (who’s also a world-class hacker), and Mio Imada as the gorgeous but cutthroat Kirika, the series is a ten-ticket thrill ride of action, drama, and comedy.

Ren Meguro as Haru Tennoji

A dynamic performer and a versatile actor, it’s no wonder that Meguro is also one of the busiest men in Japan! However, I was lucky enough to get a spare moment for an exclusive interview!

What was your favorite scene to film for Trillion Game, and why?

Towards the end of the final episode, there’s a confrontation with the character Kokuryu, who was the villain of the series played by Jun Kunimura. It’s a clash between the passions for success shared by our two characters. We both have everything to lose, but despite such a dark setting it was so much fun to play. I was influenced as an actor by Kunimura-san, in a good way. The whole thing was a fantastic experience and I learned a lot.

Out of all the roles you’ve played, who is the most like you and who is the most different – and why?

So Sakura in “silent” and Haru Tennoji who I play in “Trillion Game”. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum personality-wise and have both taught me so much, but as for my real self, I think I’m more like Sakura-kun. So to play such an extremely different character like Haru right after was so much fun! I really enjoyed playing someone so different from myself.

If you could play any of the characters you’ve played again for a sequel who would it be and why?

I think Haru. He’s one of those electric characters that gets everyone excited. He’s a loose cannon and really makes you wonder “what is he gonna do next?” Personally, I’d really like to know what’s next for him.

As a fan, I couldn’t be more excited for Meguro and can’t wait to see where 2024 takes him,

Considering fans spotted him at a photoshoot in front of the Trevi Fountain in Rome (wearing a fabulous Fendi outfit) there’s definitely something on the horizon…
