A sort of silly story about well-mannered high school students, My Love Mix-Up is one of the purest and most sugary-sweet BL Stories I have ever seen.

Based on the manga of the same name (Japanese: 消えた初恋 – Kieta Hatsukoi) written by Hinekure Wataru (ひねくれ渡) and illustrated by Aruko (アルコ), I first discovered the story when the TV Asahi series that debuted for international audiences on Rakuten Viki in 2021. It was love at first sight and was that catalyst that introduced me to Ren Meguro (目黒蓮), Shunsuke Michieda (道枝駿佑) and the agency that effectively changed my life forever.

Sota Aoki (Michieda) is cute but clueless and doesn’t really care much for anything in school other than the beautiful Mio Hashimoto (Riko Fukumoto, 福本莉子). To him, she is the most beautiful person in the world and he loves her with his whole heart. But one day, when she offers to lend him his eraser he finds she’s written a love charm for no other than Kousuke Ida (Meguro).

But things get even worse for Aoki when Ida picks up the eraser and sees his name written on it. Not wanting to out his beloved’s true feelings, Aoki confesses that the eraser is his. Though the confession shocks Ida, the more he thinks about it, the more he realizes how kind and caring Aoki is. So he asks him to wait and allow him time to think over his proposal. One silly mistake sets into a motion a romantic comedy of adorable proportions.

The manga, which was licensed through VIZ media in the US recently released its 9th and final volume and it’s every bit as innocent and sweet as the series. It’s a great read.

Original Manga art of My Love Mix-Up

Now, thanks to GMMTV, we’re going to get even more My Love Mix-Up with a Thai adaptation of the story, and it’s staring the crown princes of the genre Norawit Thiticharoenrak (Gemini) and Nattawat Jirochtikul (Fourth).

Fourth will play Atom (Aoki) Gemini will play Kongthap (Ida) while newcomer Pahn Pathitta will play Mudmee (Hashimoto). Rounding out the cast is another newcomer, Chokun Puttipong who will be playing the Thai equivalent of Aoki’s best friend Akkun (originated by Jin Suzuki, 鈴木仁).

Honestly, I couldn’t be more excited for this. After interviewing Gemini and Fourth last year, I can totally see these two as those characters. Though relatively new to the game, they won our hearts and stole the crown of the School Boy BL genre with the 2022 comedy series My School President. Honestly, I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

I am overjoyed at the fact that I once again get to write: More My Love Mix-Up soon so…

Stay Tuned!
