Woo Hyeol is going to die. He knows it, his friends know, and even In Hae knows it – though none of them want to believe it. But, Woo Hyeol has accepted his fate. Even though he has not become completely human, he’s gotten the chance to experience a love that has made his heart beat. With In Hae – and that’s all he ever wanted.

After experiencing the true nature of a vampire when Man Hwi attacks her and Do Shik in her office, every fear Hae Won has ever had is realized. Luckily, Do Shik has the knife and he vanquishes Man Hwi once and for all. With a change of heart, Hae Won withdraws her request to purchase the neighborhood and has decided to return to the States for an indefinite period of time. Knowing he will not live to see her again Woo Hyeol bids her a final goodbye.

Taking In Hae to the beach, the couple enjoy a few final days of happiness, before the blood moon. While In Hae is asleep, Woo Hyeol meets Do Shik on the beach, offering himself to him so that he may live a life free of the curse brought upon him by his ancestors.

However, just before he’s ready to strike, In Hae appears. Grabbing Do Shik’s hand, Woo Hyeol faces the dagger into his heart. He dies in In Hae’s arms.

A moment of happiness before the end.

Back in the mansion basement, In Hae, her father, Rose, Dong Seop, and Sang Hae say their final goodbyes to the man every single one of them loved. Then, ever so slowly, life continues. Later, Mr. Ko comes to In Hae with the gold he’d been keeping for Woo Hyeol, which she splits between herself and his friends, so that they will live a better life.

Dong Seop opens his own Tteokbokki shoppe themed after recipes from the past while Sang Hae isn’t quite sure how to spend his money, but he knows he’s not going to waste it. In Hae invests her portion in the Guest House and it thrives – though she still from time to time, visits the basement so that she can rekindle her memories of Woo Hyeol and keep him alive in her heart.

Final Thoughts: What a beautiful love story. Though its ending was tragic it was an absolutely beautiful piece of television with a stunning cast and a killer soundtrack.
