The first time Woo Hyeol met his beloved Hae Sun, she was walking alone and stumbled upon a feral vampire feeding on a human. She would have been his desert had Woo Hyeol not shown up and forced the creature to retreat. Revealing himself in the process he offers her his hand, to help her away from the terrible situation.
After saving In Hae from being bludgeoned to death by her former con artist landlord, Woo Hyeol offers her his hand, wanting to help remove her from the terrible situation. She now knows the truth. He is a vampire. She asks him a simple question “Are you here to see me or hurt me?”
Before she takes his hand, however, her scummy landlord tries to run away. Leaping to her feet, she chases after him again. Leaving behind her wallet for Woo Hyeol to find. Luckily, as he runs, the landlord is hit by a cop car. In Hae follows them to the station where the landlord tells the officer the story about being beaten up by a vampire. He asks In Hae to corroborate her story, but the only thing she’s interested in is getting her money back. However, she’s not alone and an angry mob rushes the police station to get their hands on the scumbag slumlord.
“For now,” he replies. “Let’s say I’m here to save you.”
While In Hae is at the station, Woo Hyeol takes her credit card to the mall and buys himself a whole new wardrobe, which he can’t wait to show her. He also tells her that her magic credit card is maxed out. Furious, In Hae can’t believe he spent all of her money. Shrugging it off Woo Hyeol tells her that he’s made provisions. He has gold stored in a safe under the coffin. But when he goes there, he finds all the gold has been stolen.
Now even more frustrated In Hae tells him he has to pay her back all of the money, and even sets up a sale of a purple jack he’s just bought with someone at the station the next day while she’s at work. The person she set up the sale with ends up being none other than Woo Hyeol’s former employee Sang Hae who is more than a little shocked to see his old boss. He then takes him to see Dong Seop who’s been working at a food stand, that doesn’t sell much food. The two vampires lament about the state of the world. How CCTV and dashcams have made it impossible for them to feed off humans. They now have to rely on deliveries from a local blood bank – which is becoming more and more expensive.

After she arrives at work In Hae gets a call that her old apartment building is about to be demolished – with everything she owns still inside. She rushes to the site and is saved by her old college friend Shin Do Shik (Park Kang Hyun) who is the real estate developer who bought the building. As the two reconnect he helps her move her items from the apartment back to the mansion.

Woo Hyeol is waiting and introduces himself to Do Shik, welcoming him to “Their” home. In Hae tries to clear up the confusion by saying he is a friend of her father and that he’s there to help her with the house.
To get a job, Sang Hae then helps Woo Hyeol to make an ID, so he can pay In Hae back. However, he’s fired from every job the two get, because, he’s just not built for manual labor. When he returns home, In Hae tells him she’ll forgive what’s left of the money he owes her if he helps her clean the house, which he does.

As they’re cleaning, she finds a pocket watch that belonged to her father. One he used to give her any time he had to leave. She knew as long as she had it, he’d always return. She’s surprised to see hiding under a dresser in one of the rooms of the house.
Once they’re finished, the two are relaxing separately, however a gets a strange sensation in Woo Hyeol’s neck (Where In Hae bit him) lets him know something bad is going to happen to her. Rushing to her side he lifts her into the air, just as one of the chandeliers falls from the ceiling, crashing down to the spot where she was just sitting down to relax.
While they’re floating he sees her lip is bleeding. floating ten feet of the ground, he leans, kissing her.
Quick Take: I love how boastful Woo Hyeol is about his looks, and how perfect and wonderful he is. I also love how he’s immediately put in his place by the universe.
What does the kiss mean? Why was In Hae’s father’s watch at the apartment? Find out in episode 4!
