It’s the day of the festival. Ida stops by the Home Economics club to speak to Aoki. On the roof, he advises him that his friends on the volleyball team know the truth. They are a couple. Aoki is furious and doesn’t understand why Ida would do something like that, even after Ida tells him that he didn’t have a choice. They saw them in Yokohama. Aoki decides to break up with Ida, leaving him on the rooftop to stew in his own confusion.
As the rest of the class gets ready for the Christmas party, Ida leaves for a volleyball match. Akkun stops him and tells him to return. The lights will be done and he knows how happy it will make Aoki.
On their way to practice, Ida tells his teammates that what he said about him and Aoki dating was just a joke and he hopes that they won’t bother him about it. Shun, knowing the truth tells Ida it’s the first time he’s ever seen him lie. At the same time, Aoki and Hashimoto see Akkun tell the class’ vice president that he doesn’t eat home-cooked food. His statement sends Hashimoto into a tailspin.
Following her out of the classroom, Akkun tells her that the only reason he said what he said was because he only wanted to eat what she made for him. After he eats her cupcake, he asks her to see the lights with him.

After the match, Shun and the team reveal that Aoki came to see them before Ida did. He reveals to them that he forced Ida into the relationship and that he’s made the decision to stay away from him, so he hopes they will continue to be his friends. The four of them reveal how happy they were to learn they were a couple and wanted to celebrate their relationship.

After taking a moment to wallow in his sadness, Aoki returns to his classmates and the festival, where Hashimoto reveals that she and Akkun are now officially together. Aoki is happy for them.

After a gentle push from his friends and a knowing look from Mr. Taniguchi, Ida decides to rush to Aoki’s side. Running as fast as he can, memories of his relationship with Aoki flash through Ida’s mind. However, when he makes it to school, the lights are off and the festival is over. But, as fate would have it, Aoki was leaving late.
The two talk and apologize, then decide that, because their feelings for one another are real, they should be a couple again. Then, hidden away, Akkun and Hashimoto turn the lights back on and the couple get a private moment to enjoy the festival on their own.

Again, I feel like Aoki was overacting. He never should have broken up with Ida. He needs to learn how to not care about what other people think, because (as we’ve seen) all his assumptions are always way off. Ida also needs to learn how to communicate. He’s not going to be able to rely on his looks forever. However, again, they’re teenagers. The finale, much like the pilot was perfect.
10/10. No notes.
