One of the best things about South Korean BL dramas is that they are bite-sized. Usually under ten episodes with a run time of about 25 minutes each, they’re the perfect way to waste a day. There’s also a TON to choose from. For my first South Korean BL I chose the light-hearted comedy, First Love, Again starring Jin Gun and Jeon Chang Ha. It’s supernatural, it’s funny, and it’s set in the world of a writer. It’s also an original work adapted from a contest held by Ascendio (You Make Me Dance).
Yeon Seok (Jin) is a popular web novelist with good looks and money to burn. He can’t lose. He’s also on his third life.

Back in the Joseon era, he was a servant, who fell in love with Jeong Ha Yeon (Jung Hyun Ji), a woman way above his station. Though she was in love with him too, they never got the chance to be together. Mainly because Seok was taken into the woods and left for dead. Luckily, Sin Bi (Song Han Hee), a magical cat Yeon Seok was kind to was able to grant him a single wish.
That wish was for his love to finally be requited.
The next time Seok was born was at a time when the world entered into a war. He and Ha Yeon met again, but briefly. She was killed in an explosion. He took his own life.
Now, in the modern day, he’s ready. He can feel it. He knows this is the life they will finally be tighter. But when Sin Bi finds Ha Yeon, not everything is as she expected. Mainly because this time around, Ha Yeon is a man.

As far as pilots go, it’s pretty decent. The bored is set, the characters are all alined and the story starts off with a comically confusing plot point that will set the tone for the rest of the series.
10/10
What will Seok do now? Will he still be able to love Ha Yeon now that he’s a man? Find out in episode 2! There’s more First Love, Again soon so…
