am going, to be honest, I am not really sure what I watched here. But, here is my review of My Universe: Casanova Begins.

Title card featuring Kim (Thunyah Teerakachornkit) and Khunkao (Pumipat Paiboon)

The episode starts with Khunkao (Pumipat Paiboon) throwing wine at Kim (Thunyah Teerakachornkit) for leading on his sister. Somehow Kim is electrocuted. When Kim wakes up the next morning, he’s not himself. He’s been inhabited by the spirit of Pluem, who died two years prior. Also, Pluem use to be Khunkao’s boyfriend. Pluem has no memory of the last two years – including how he died.

As Pluem tries to adjust to being Kim, a spirit visits him and tells him that, if anyone finds out who he is, his life will be over in 24 minutes.

As the owner of a posh hotel, Kim invites Khunkao and his friends (including his sister) to breakfast – which he pays for. He also leaves flowers and a note for Khunkao’s sister, which Khunkao reads instead. The letter basically says “Sorry I was a playboy, but you could be the one to change me.” Khunkao tells her that it’s a breakup letter.

Later, Khunkao meets with Kim, who tells him, the letter was a trick. He has no interest in his sister but is interested in him. Khunkao thinks he’s joking, but the two somehow magically hit it off. The next day while filming a music video at Kim’s hotel, the lead actor doesn’t show up. Khunkao asks Kim to play opposite his sister, who believes he’s just dumped her. Pluem’s little brother is also working on the set.

Meeting Khunkao at the bar, after the shoot, Kim praises him and they basically talk and get to know one another before Kim gets an urgent call that is pulling him away. He and Khunkao clink glasses and Kim says “Bottoms up!” It was a tradition Khunkao had with Pluem. He, and everyone else, is starting to get suspicious of Kim because no one thinks he’s acting like himself.

I only started this series because Kaownah Kittipat posted it on his Instagram. I love seeing him with the adorable Turbo Chanokchon. Since I just discovered it the moment before I turned it on, I went in blind. 12 couples, 24 episodes – Kaownah and Turbo appear somewhere later. Still, there was a hurricane in Los Angeles, what else was I going to do?

I didn’t hate it. I was just confused. For Khunkao to be so protective of his sister, then lie to her, AND THEN expect her to act alongside Kim, as a happy romantic couple, when (as far as she knows) he just rejected her THE DAY BEFORE was a bit sus. Also, I feel like everything is just a bit rushed. Yes, I get it, each story arc has only two episodes, but I feel like this one would benefit from some expansion. It’s an interesting premise, it’s just… confusing. Still, I’ve seen worse.

There will be more Casanova Begins soon so…
