I am not sure what I expected this drama to be, but I know this wasn’t it. Not even close, and I meant that in the best way possible.
Opening with a mysterious and honestly somewhat frightening scene, of a mysterious young man in a beautiful home who sees himself in bed with another handsome stranger. The stage is set for a series that’s filled with promise.

That mysterious young man is Jom, played by series star Chanon Santinatornkul, nicknamed Non, who is an architect who is currently restoring the historic home he dreamed about, in Chiang Mai. His boyfriend, Ohm (Kanokchat Munyadon, Typhoon) is returning after two years of studying abroad in the UK. Jom is over the moon, but when Ohm returns, it’s only to gather his things. He’s met someone else, and she’s pregnant.
Heartbroken, Jom goes to a club to blow off some steam. Unfortunately what he gets is drunk, nearly date-raped, and in an accident that has him ejected from the car and into the river. Prepared to die, he asks that his journey in his next life be a good one.
Kissed by a stranger, Jom raises to the surface and makes his way to the shore, where he passes out. He’s later found by Ming (Kantapon Chompupan, Guide) who mistakes him for a Lord and takes him to his home so he can rest and when he wakes up, Jom is even more confused.

The clothing, the money, everything is different. Little by little he begins to realize that he’s not in modern day Chiang Mai, he’s in the past. The 1920s to be exact. The episode ends with him coming face to face with the handsome strange the saw himself with in the beginning, Yai (Rapheephong Thapsuwan, Bright), who seems to recognize him as well.

Produced by Dee Hup House (Lovely Writer) the series is based on the novel of the same name and is wonderfully written and very well produced, this series has a lot of potential. It’s supernatural, which I love, and very mysterious. Also, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be cutesy. I mean, Jom was almost raped in the first episode, and his attacker was basically like “Go ahead, call the cops, you were drunk at a club, everyone will say you wanted it.” So it’s not afraid to go dark. It’s got potential.
10/10.
Premiering on GMM One, LINE TV, Youku on 18 August, the series is available for international viewers via the GagaOOLala app.
