Despite its opening scene, this is one of the lighter episodes in the series. It’s all about love and acceptance – except from Korn’s father.
SYNOPSIS
Korn and his father (Nirut Sirijanya, Nhing) have an intense interaction, with his father upset that he doesn’t come with him to hurt the people who have borrowed money from the Ariyasakul family. But Korn isn’t interested in hurting people, he does not want to take over his father’s business. He has his own plans. After slapping him and calling him worthless, Korn’s father storms out, but his younger brothers Krit and Karl rush in to comfort their older brother. Korn plays it off that he’s okay, but in reality, he’s breaking.

Present-day Pharm, along with Team and Manaow come to Del, Don, and Dean’s home so that Pharm can teach Del how to make a special Thai dessert for when her parents return. Don has stayed home because there is a football match he wants to see and Dean is asleep upstairs. Everyone agrees it’s best to have Pharm go and wake him up, but on his way to Dean’s room, he stumbles across a photograph of their mother, (Sinjai Plengpanich, Nok). Pharm has a flash of Alin, Intouch’s niece, causing tears to stream down his face. Wiping them away, he continues to Dean’s bedroom. After a playfully romantic gesture, Dean goes to shower while Pharm (disheveled) returns to help Del. Luckily he runs into Team who helps him straighten up.

Another scene reveals In inviting Korn to the beach, a place he’s never been.
Back in the present, while everyone is relaxing, Pharm receives a FaceTime call from his brother Phoom (Saranwut Chatjaratsaeng, Ball) and is promptly joined by their mother (Poramaporn Jangkamol, June) and they learn about Dean and Pharm’s relationship. To them, as long as Pharm is happy, that’s all they care about.

A mother flashback scene shows Korn and In at the beach. After a day of fun in the sun, the two look at one another and at the same time ask the other to be their boyfriend. A moment of pure and utter joy in the light before the darkness swallows them whole.

The episode ends with Sin telling Dean he has some of the information he’s looking for. He wants to meet with him.
THOUGHTS
Episode eight really starts to get into the meat of the story. We see Korn’s fractured relationship with his father, while at the same time showing the absolute love between him and his younger brothers. Up until this point, we’ve only seen Korn as the strong one. Showing how he’s staring to crack, adds a whole new dimension to his character. In contrast, the relationship Pharm has with his mother and brother is absolutely lovely. I love their simple reaction to the acknowledgment that Pharm and Dean are together.
But even with all the light and love in this episodes… Darkness is coming.
