BL Rewatch: Until We Meet Again – Episode Six

This episode gave me all the feels.

SYNOPSIS

In the past, In has been following Korn for a month, to no avail as Korn has repeatedly tried to ignore him. But in is persistent. He tells Korn he’ll wait for him in the canteen so that they can eat together. He won’t go home until Korn shows up, then before Korn can answer, In rushes off. It’s after six pm before Korn shows up, thinking in has left. He hasn’t. True to his word he waited for Korn. It’s the moment you see Korn’s heart of ice start to melt.

In the present, Dean, Pharm, Manaow, Team, Win, and Del all have breakfast together. Team and the group playfully and harmlessly tease Pharm about how he only makes special deserts for Dean. In a moment of pure tenderness, Dean reaches under the table to hold Pharm’s hand.

That night, as Dean drives home, he has flashes of Korn and In and has a minor panic attack. Worried, Del and Don rush to make sure he is. They help him to his room to rest.

The next day, the university is holding an event. When Pharm brings snacks for Manaow and Del, Alex comes over and starts to flirt with Pharm, though he again tells him he’s not interested. This time, he tells Alex he’s seeing someone else, Dean, and that they’re already together (though it’s not technically true, yet). Del has recorded the entire interaction.

When Pharm shows up at Dean’s faculty, he’s met by some of Dean’s classmates, who playfully flirt, because Dean has told them how amazing his cooking is. Then he’s asked to play a game. There are several pieces of red thread tied to the wrists of one of the faculty members. Pharm must choose the thread and whomever it’s tied to will show him around the campus. Surprise surprise, while Dean takes him on a tour, he takes him into an abandoned classroom and the two share their first kiss. They are officially together.

At dinner with Team, Win, Manaow, and Del they start talking about the theory of the red thread and how it symbolizes soulmates finding one another. Team shows an image a “fan” took of Dean and Pharm wit the read thread tied around their wrists.

Both Dean and Pharm have a shared vision of Korn and In promising to find one another in their next life. Both Dean and Pharm echo “Promise” at the same time after.

THOUGHTS

For me this is one of the episodes that runs the gamut of emotions. In’s persistence in gaining Korn’s affections, is cute and and adorable. This is bookend with Alex’s forcefulness towards Pharm, which is on the exact opposite of the spectrum. It’s creepy. He’s creepy. I love the duality of the budding romances between In and Korn and Dean and Pharm.

I do want to mention though that Sammantha Melanie Coates who plays Manaow, is a comedic genius. Even if she’s just in the background, her facial expressions are pure gold.
