With Greta Gerwig’s Barbie having the strongest film openings of 2023, I thought I’d show a little love to her main-squeeze, Ken.
Barbie is good at basically everything she does, Ken is just, well, Ken. The unemployed beach bum is one of the most eccentric guys in plastic!
But he’s still just Ken.
Barbie was created to give girls something to aspire too. To show them that they were made for more than just being mothers. Barbie can do anything. Ken, however can’t really do anything. He’s nothing without Barbie.
It’s a glorious message.
So while Barbie is out conquering the world (and outer space!), Ken is her arm candy… And what beautiful arm candy he is…
