When La Pluie started twelve weeks ago, I was captivated. Then, things kind of went south for me. But, it did end on an uptick… sort of.
Produced by Acttraction Entertainment, Saengtai (Title Tanatorn, REMEMBER ME) started the series with a rare disorder that caused him to go deaf whenever it rains. The only voice he was able to hear was that of his Soulmate, Phat (Pee Peerawich, Y DESTINY), whom it took him two years to finally meet. When he finally does, sparks fly, and romance blossoms. It started as a sweet simple a sweet and simple supernatural love story that I couldn’t wait to watch.

Then the characters went into the mountains for a retreat and the entire series got stuck in a tarpit of troupes that made episodes 7-11 almost unbearable to watch. Almost every single character became so obnoxious that I was kind of praying they’d all get stuck on the mountain. The only one who didn’t upset me was Tien, Suar Kritsanaphong (YOU’RE MY SKY) Tai’s younger brother. Thought the series, he’s the only character who not only seems to grow but does so in a way that doesn’t hurt anyone else. Kritsanaphong played the character with a sweet and positive disposition. He’s a very good actor – but so is the rest of the cast. I love Tanatorn, but Tai annoyed me. There were moments where he acted like an absolute child, and while Peerawich, as an actor is also enjoyable, Patts could be obnoxious.
The series closed, as most BL dramas do with everyone coming together and everyone happy. Which, normally, I am all about. But again, with this series, I feel like the only one who earned his happy ending was Tien. Everyone else needs therapy.
Then the Tag scene at the end. Trying to upset the order of Tien’s world.
I’m going to pretend I didn’t see it.
All in all, it was an enjoyable series. It just lost momentum at the end. But, it’s NOT the worst thing I’ve ever seen – and will probably be something I love on the second watch.
I will say this though – the OST is fabulous.
So, there may be more La Pluie soon… Probably not, but at any rate, please…
