There is something inherently sexy about the power of the voice of SixTONES.
Individually interesting, for sure – each one of them have a very unique tone, but when there’s a sensuality in the sound.
While the group are no strangers to turning up the heat with their music performances, on their with their newest single “こっから” (eng: “KOKKORA”) – which loosely translates to “from here on out,” The groups really lean into this feral masculine sound and honestly, it’s hot AF.
Opening with “こっから,” a funk-infused party-rock anthem, the six of them clearly had fun with this song. The same with the single’s second track “FIREWORKS.” with a pinch of latin spice, the group really heats up.
Part of the group’s appeal, at least for me, is the fact that they’re not afraid to let loose and have fun. It’s something I’ve noticed about a lot of groups under Johnny & Associates. They’re incredibly serious about what they do, but they don’t take themselves too seriously – and there’s just something about the way Jesse growls.
Going acoustic with “Tu-tu-lu” it’s the perfect “morning after song” so, it’s placement behind “FIREWORKS” – genius. “雨” (eng: “Rain”) starts gentle before exploding into a Tsunami of emotion – just like any relationship worth writing music about.
I didn’t think I could like this song any more than I already do, but the Dark Electro Rock Remix of “ABARERO” is FIRE! Again, accenting the sex and sensuality behind the power of the guys’ voices – it’s a banger.
The Medly performance of S.I.X ~ Special Order ~ フィギュア ~ RAM-PAM-PAM ~ WHIP THAT ~ Outrageous from “Law of Habituation” at Yokohama Arena is also fun – This is a group I need to see live. I just hope they sell water at their shows… and maybe towels – because even though they’re the ones owning the stage, it’s the audience who’s gonna sweat.
